Mouse pads.
Can’t live with ‘em, can’t…well, actually you can get by without them…but it is not recommended! At least that’s what 80 some-odd people have affluently expressed to me over the last few years. You see, I’ve been mouse pad free for a while now. Why? Because mouse pads tend to be kitchy and ugly, and I refuse to go hunt for one that doesn’t mess up my feng shui when my mouse works perfectly well on my bare desk! Yah!

But then it happened. I moved. I bought a new desk. One that suited my small space by giving an open, airy feeling. The obvious choice: a glass desk. Perfect. I love it. Purchase. Build. Set-up the computer. Turn it on. Hmmmm, what shall I listen to on iTunes…uuhhhhh, wait, my computer isn’t working?! It’s not responding, what the hell?? WHY DOES TECHNOLOGY INSIST ON HATING ME??! Ooohhhh, haha, it’s the desk…it’s glass, the mouse won’t respond…that’s embarrassing…
Now what? Use a magazine until I give in and buy a sports-themed mouse pad? Ughhh. And just then, my brain formed a brilliant solution. While I was still reeling from the emotional suck-attack I’d just had, my brain told my arm to reach over. My ever obedient left arm plucked a fabric covered journal from my bookshelf. He handed it over to my right hand, who then slid it under the mouse, and carried on the initial task of iTunes song selection. Jim Croce, great choice. And as the sweet sounds of Operator calmed my disgruntled spirit, I came to. Hey that looks great! Nice work team!

Book mouse pad for the win! And think of the possibilities? If you can’t find a book that matches your decor, just find a swatch of fabric that works and re-cover an old book! So awesome!
Happy web-surfing!
