Very exciting news peeps! There is a new place in town to grab fresh delicious Mexican food: Burrito Splendido! My good and extremely talented friend Ken opened his doors just over two weeks ago and he has been busy busy ever since. You know why?! Cause the food is fresh, tasty, healthy, local and affordable. I don’t know about you but I find it hard to find somewhere to eat quickly that is healthy and satisfying. Well look no further ladies and gentlemen! Located at 3380 Portage Ave, this is your one stop shop for burritos, tacos, salads, quesadillas and more.

My personal favourite: Splendido Adobo Chicken Salad (burrito in a bowl). Some might say I am salad obsessed, I can’t help it that I love lots of leafy greens?! Well this is top of my list! Greens, yummy chicken, lots of toppings (beans, salsa, quac, mexi-slaw, corn, cheese) and topped of with the chili lime vinaigrette, so good! The best part is the queso fresco which is a soft mild white cheese that is made in house. How many meals (let alone quick ones) can you get with fresh cheese?!

Fun facts about Burrito Splendido:

  • All the tortillas are freshly made to order and were perfected after my months of taste testing by Ken himself.
  • The beef, chicken and pork are all sourced locally from Manitoba.
  • The flour used in the tortillas is also local and organic. You have your choice of white or whole wheat!
  • You can enjoy your burrito with a beer, margarita or other tasty (alcoholic) beverage.
  • The owner Ken is super cool and awesome.

So you might think I am biased but I dare you to prove me wrong! I will even personally meet you for a burrito and then slam down my beer in an over the top fashion once you finish your meal with a sense of awe and satisfaction! Dramatic?! Maybe a little but I will totally do it if you take me up on it :)
