These photos by the incredibly talented Brett Howe were taken at the Rachel Browne Theatre connected to The School of Contemporary Dancers. This show, called Con_struct, was the Senior Professional Program’s composition show.Winnipeg school of contemporary dancers, photographed by brett howeWinnipeg school of contemporary dancers, photographed by brett howeWinnipeg school of contemporary dancers, photographed by brett howeWinnipeg school of contemporary dancers, photographed by brett howeWinnipeg school of contemporary dancers, photographed by brett howeThe program is a four year degree connected to the University of Winnipeg and has a variety of classes and opportunities throughout the degree. Lighting courses are available, improvisation classes, a voice course and so much more. One of my personal favourite times of the year in this program is the composition show. The level three’s and four’s have the opportunity to choreograph their own pieces on any of the dancers in the program.Winnipeg school of contemporary dancers, photographed by brett howeWinnipeg school of contemporary dancers, photographed by brett howeWinnipeg school of contemporary dancers, photographed by brett howedance9Winnipeg school of contemporary dancers, photographed by brett howe

The pieces range from solos to twelve or more people in one dance. It is also a great opportunity for the level one’s and two’s who get to work with their fellow dancers in creating dances and being part of something new and refreshing. We always love working and experimenting with one another at this time of year. It brings a lot of new light to all of us as dancers, choreographers and artists. Check out our other shows at http://schoolofcontemporarydancers.ca/. We have another show coming up at the end of May and there will be many more next year too! Hope you can check it out!

Much love, Charcoal
