Winnipeg has been waiting a long time for a someone to give the sandwich the respect it deserves. Mike Delbuono is doing exactly that with his new venture, King + Bannatyne The Sandwich Shop On The Corner. By Fall of this year, Mike will be serving up delicious sandwiches in Winnipeg’s Exchange District and we couldn’t be happier. Until then, Mike decided to give the public a taste of his talents and support the local art scene at the same time. His recent pop-up collab in the exchange featured Winnipeg artist Zephyra Vun of AnARCHI Design. Buy a sandwich and get a limited edition print? Absolutely. The popup was bumpin everyday it ran and not by surprise, sold out very quickly. Mr Brett Howe got his hands around one of these delicious sandoozles and managed to sneak in a couple shots between bites. Check out his captures below as well the promo video* (not by us). Sugar Blossom Design - The Pop-up edition

What better way to spend a Saturday then to head down your local cake shop to check out beautiful jewelery and stellar stationary. Well as luck would have it, last weekend Kelli Miller of Sugar Blossom Design put together a pop-up shop at Jenna-Rae Cakes, a new custom cake shop and bakery on Academy Rd. in Winnipeg. The two day event was a perfect marriage of sweet treats and of course a wide selection of Kelli’s exceptionally beautiful, handcrafted jewelry.

Kelli has been on top of the fashion and style world since day one and has experience in almost every aspect of both. Her unique Jewelry often incorporates various trinkets all of which she spends countless hours tracking down and meticulously constructing into her finished product. Her obvious passion for creating objects of affection shines through in her work and instantly captures the attention of anyone who finds themselves shopping her creations. This past Saturday myself and 9 friends had the pleasure of going to the RAW : almond pop up dinner on the river! For those of you who have not heard about this amazlingly awesome idea made reality yet, I will give you a quick run down. Chef Mandel Hitzer teamed up with architect Joe Kalturnyk to create a restaurant on the frozen Winnipeg river. With help from almost a dozen of the cities best culinary talents, they created a 21 day pop up dinner that is an experience like no other. In fact, it was officially confirmed that this restaurant on the ice is the first of its kind.

We layered our clothes, put on our boots, packed some road rockets and trekked down the river walk to eat a delicious meal. Now anyone who has spent some time in Winnipeg knows that February can be quite trying at times. With bone chilling temperatures that last for days that seem endless, we usually question why we live in this city in the first place. Well last night confirmed 100% why we live in Winnipeg.

As we walked from the Osborne bridge on the ice towards the forks, there were dozens of people skating, walking, laughing, curling and all around enjoying the gorgeous evening outdoors. The dinner was the same, 20 people seated around a long table on top of the ice laughing, enjoying an amazing meal and not thinking twice about the snow that surrounded us. The chef of our evening was Alex Svenne, owner and chef of the popular 7 1/4 on south Osborne. Mandel, Alex and their team put together a fantastic five course meal which featured unique dishes such as goat spam and duck for desert.

This city is full of amazing people that do unbelievably amazing things and the pop up river dinner definitely comes up on top. It brought over 60 people an evening together in our cities coldest month on the frozen river over truly outstanding meals. I will remember this experience when the cold seems like too much and aspire to inspire even under the harshest of conditions. All guests were encouraged to sign the long family style table. As signed by one of the dinner goers, my city is often great!
