Normandy shop owner’s Chris Saniuk and Amanda Remond have done a service to the landscape of menswear in Winnipeg. The shop located at 791 Corydon Avenue is a perfect addition to the neighborhood offering up a carefully selected collection menswear and dry goods. Denim and trousers by brands such Kansas City jean makers Baldwin and North Carolina/San Francisco denim producers Tellason accompany a range of beautiful coats and sweaters hung perfectly along three racks attached to the walls. The walls themselves are all reclaimed wood from owner Saniuk’s family property in Ontario and are adorned with a myriad of treasures, some for sale and others decorative. The sliding rail car door and framed maps along the walls all come from Chris and Amanda’s weekend adventures and masterful salvaging skills. Other treasures that are for sale include the wonderful smelling shaving soaps and gift packs by Hudson Made, outstanding coffee from Working Coffee and some marvellous wallets by Winnipeg born designer Ken Diamond.
As if the store wasn’t perfect enough already you have the nicest couple around at your service and little Norman, the Prince of Normandy to keep you company while you shop. Immediately entering the store I feel comfortable; as if I was in my friend’s living room listening to some good music and hanging around great people. It is a thing of beauty and a long overdue addition to the city. I’d like to thank Chris and Amanda for all their hard work and for being all around fantastic people; I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for Normandy Shop.
Much Love from all of us here at the Charcoal Collaborative.
