Green Apple Skate Shop has become a fixture in the Winnipeg skate scene. Since it’s origins dating back to 1992, they have they have released multiple videos, collaborations as well as housed many of Winnipeg’s most talented riders under the Green Apple team moniker. As the shop continues to thrive in it’s Corydon Ave. location here in Winnipeg, owner Mike McDermott is continuously taking the brand to the next level. Most recently Green Apple had the chance to collaborate on a project with legendary Chocolate Skateboards based out of California. The collaboration celebrates the coinciding anniversaries of Green Apples 5th birthday and Chocolate’s 20th. Chocolate chose a few select shops across Canada to release a limited edition deck with custom graphics by their in house designer Evan Hecox.

Green Apple being the force that it is was an obvious fit for the collaboration and in some peoples opinion Winnipeg was the perfect lettering combination to accent the aesthetic of Hecox’s work. To celebrate their anniversary as well as the collaboration, Green Apple underwent a revamp taking the interior of the shop to another level. Winnipeg born now Berlin based architect Jon Jon Ferrer offered McDermott designs for the shop, which Mike then carried out through a little elbow grease and some sleepless nights. This collaboration is an amazing celebration of Winnipeg’s skate and small business community, serious props to Mike McDermott for his love of skate, of this city and for all of his hard work. Lastly, cheers to many more years of Green Apple Skate Shop thriving in this great city. Much Love and remember to shop local.
