While sitting at my desk last Friday I got a spontaneous lunch invite from Wayne. Seeing that the sun was shinning and that it was Friday, I gladly took him up on his offer. And where were we headed to on this lunch hour? The back loading dock door of the University of Winnipeg. This might not seem like the first choice of lunch outings but just you wait till you hear about this! Ben Kramer, Executive Chef of Diversity Foods, is literally opening the back loading dock door of his kitchen and selling delicious fresh food every Friday of the summer from 11:30-2:00.

What was on the menu? Home made italian sausage on a fresh bun topped off with baconaise, caramelized onions and ketchup. It was juicy and delicious and all for an easy $8 for the both of us. Pretty sweet deal especially considering everything from the sausage to the bun was made from scratch. We sat on the milk crate patio, enjoyed our tasty meal and some laughs and headed back to work very satisfied.

Next Friday Ben is featuring a bento box! So head down Ellice and turn onto Spence, do a quick stop in the loading dock and be blown away by a back door lunch.

With love from your blogger,

Arielle
